Here’s one of our customers wearing one of my favourite Kollontai dresses. Too cute! The little bolero jacket is by Kaffe.

Design knows no bounds this Wedding Season!

That was clearly demonstrated the other night when Trudy Gallagher arrived at Aphrodite with her Bejewel collection of handmade jewellery ready to adorn our models for the most amazing spring fashion show that we put on for all of our customers and readers. Click on our slide show and you’ll get a glimpse of the visual phantasmagoria we ll experienced. Next time try to be there too.

Among our models was Marsha Voica from Pictou County who the previous night delivered a foal on the horse farm she shares with her husband. What a difference a day makes! Our newest guest model was Norma Jean MacDonald from Antigonish who just rocked our dresses! They were joined by our own Laura Donnachie, Cori MacInnis and…. after five weeks away on holiday, Mary Connelly came back to the runway. We chose some of our best dresses for the most special of events for this occasion. The models walked up unadorned to the Bejewel display and from there Trudy selected the jewellery that was most complimentary to the dress. In one case she gave us a few options and allowed the audience to choose their favourite. What started out as a great dress was turned into a sensational look that would have cut it on any red carpet. Right now our selection is resplendent with gorgeous fashions and a great selection of Bejewel designs. Come in and try them on! Be a princess for a day! Or should I say….. Find that Goddess in you!

Trudy Gallagher Bio;

Fredericton’s award-winning designer Trudy Gallagher, owner of Bejewel, is well known in the Canadian art jewellery world for her specialization in handmade pieces – everything from bracelets, earrings and rings to recycled jewellery and sterling ties.

Her passion began at an early age and was nurtured by her grandmother. As a child Trudy would play dress-up with her grandmother’s costume jewellery, pinning everything to the bottom of her dress because “if I pin it to the top, I couldn’t see it”. This passion has been carried on to Fredericton’s growing art community where Trudy is an instructor at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design and edVentures Fredericton, Atlantic Canada’s largest learning vacations program.

When my children were little I would read them this story and never could I get through it without tearing up and sobbing. They would always smile and say “Awww mom’s crying again” and they’d make me read it again and again just so they could get the same reaction over and over again. I’m sure many of you know this delightful book and if you don’t please look it up. I guarantee you won’t be able to keep your eyes dry either. Here is Robert Munsch reading the book.
