Goin’ Back!

Hello dear Aphrodite readers,

It’s that time of year again when I head inland on my Fall 2015 buying trip. I’ll be visiting numerous showrooms in Toronto and Montreal where all of the new collections will be glittering and asking to be bought. Every season I try to mix things up a bit with new lines, shapes and colours. Last season we hit a home run with Tonia Debellis jackets, a new line from the Netherlands called 10 Days and our premium line – the edgy Sarah Pacini. This fall I will be looking at Eileen Fisher as well as many new lines for denim, dresses, sweaters and separates. Last week’s Globe had a half page write-up on Lisette -L, a line of pants from Montreal that even Oprah has knighted as the best fitting pants ever.  http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/fashion-and-beauty/how-oprahs-approval-gave-pants-innovator-a-leg-up/article22745980/ We’ll be getting some of those.  There are other Canadian designers that I’m excited to see as well. I’ll keep you posted from the road. Sales associate Jean Pearcey will join me in Montreal to give me her designer eye perspective and then we’ll drive back home together.

In the meantime if you have any suggestions for lines or items that you wish we carried but don’t – I’d be delighted to hear them. We’re in the last weeks of our Winter Sale Extravaganza. Don’t miss this opportunity to pick up some beautiful pieces at ridiculously low prices. Hearts and flowers and Aphrodite – Valentine’s Day is almost here!

What Next???

Well my driveway has not yet been ploughed – has yours? So there was no getting to the store today. Instead I went for an unfh type walk – what is the sound you make when each step requires a major effort because the snow is up to your thighs. Remember Harry who works at the store? Well here he is up to his chest and looking more like a short legged weasel than a dog.

We made it up to Anne’s house – remember her? Anne also works at the store. Anne made a delicious lunch but there was no chocolate for dessert. After a walk like that I needed some. So I came home and baked these.

The best chocolate chip cookies (in my opinion) are moist and chewy and full of walnuts.

It was a big batch so I intend to share them with you in the store this Saturday. The secret – in my opinion – for the best chocolate chip cookies is walnuts. If you tell me the secret ingredient (walnuts) then you won’t have to pay HST plus you get to have one of my delicious cookies.  (Just want to know you’re paying attention)

And our big winter sale is still on – savings up to 75% OFF!
