(This time it really will work – I’m sure. Look, no one is perfect. So check out our Highland Games Fashion show and let’s celebrate the youngsters who played a starring role. Here goes:)

At our annual STREET FAIR on Thursday, July 9, Main Street was closed and filled with vendors hawking food, drink and handmade crafts along with a variety of displays about the services and activities about town. That afternoon Aphrodite hosted our annual DOG AND BONE FASHION SHOW. We like to give our canine friends the spotlight during the event but this year a group of local young high school students stole the show. A big thanks goes out to Dana Stouffer, Chelsea Beaver, Grace Poole and Jacob O’Brien who modelled for us. All four are students and J.H Gillis and are dedicated fashionistas who visit the store frequently with their pal Taylor DeCoste (future fashion photographer) who takes the photos to post on their blog. Our other fabulous models were Emmy Alcorn, Mary Connelly, Claudia Hunter Johnson and Kelly Woodington. Thanks to all of you for bringing our clothes to life! And for waiting so long to see the slide show. And thanks to our darling Laura Donnachie who helped to organize the whole event!

And what a week it was!

We have just completed the best Highland Games Week – 152 consecutive years and going strong! The downtown merchants participated in our annual STREET FAIR this past Thursday, July 9. Main Street was closed and filled with vendors hawking food, drink and handmade crafts along with a variety of displays about the services and activities about town. That afternoon Aphrodite hosted our annual DOG AND BONE FASHION SHOW. We like to give our canine friends the spotlight during the event but this year a group of local young high school students stole the show. We’d like to give a big thanks to Dana Stouffer, Chelsea Beaver, Grace Poole and Jacob O’Brien who modelled for us. I took an opportunity to stroll the Main and included are some of the photos from the street.

When you get to the photos of some uncharacteristic clothing on our front lawn you’ll see that they are worn by a group of performers from a new play called (Un)Settling Antigonish that chronicles our history in a new way. With their mini performance they hope to entice you to attend one of their upcoming performances at Town Point.   See http://www.artshealthantigonish.org/2015/04/1784-unsettling-antigonish/

Have a look at the slide show of the great day we had!
