If you have any extra turkey please bring me some because I’ll be at the store on Sunday and Monday from 12 – 5. We will be open this Thanksgiving weekend to greet all of the visitors and family members who come home for this festive occasion. Maybe come before you eat your dinner so you’ll feel good about trying on our gorgeous fall fashions. The entire store is now transformed and is alive with autumn colours and textures. As always you can also expect the unexpected. No point in being ordinary.

Hope to see you this weekend!

I have seldom been passionate about municipal politics because, for the most part I have not seen major differences among the candidates for leadership. This time it’s different. As a business owner on the Main Street I have become very familiar with the issues that this town faces. While we have come a long a long way in the past twenty years that I have lived here, there’s still a lot of work to be done. I so strongly believe that if Irene MacLeod wins your vote as the new mayor our town will finally start to reach its full potential for the benefit of everyone.

I was thrilled to learn that Irene had thrown her hat into the ring. Even though I live in the county, I became actively involved in her campaign. Here’s why:

Our Main Street can become more vibrant with an active tourism and promotional strategy to draw tourists from the highway to stop and visit. Accessibility is also an issue especially during the snowy winter months. General services can be improved and the business owners and residents can have a stronger voice. Stronger partnerships with provincial and federal entities will ensure we are getting our fair share. Our economy can improve and offer greater opportunities for our youth. This town has so much potential but the comfort zone has prevailed over the years. Here’s what Irene has to say (PS – Like her Facebook Page):

In the end, regardless of who you vote for – please just be sure to vote.

Voting day is October 15 from 8 am to 7 pm at JH Gillis Regional High School on Braemore Ave. Advance polls open October 6 at the Town Hall (right next to Aphrodite) from 12 – 8 pm. and again October 11 – ame time, same place. If you are registered with a PIN number you can also vote via the Internet. If not you can register at the advance poll or call the voter help line at 1.866-216-0798. Once you have voted your name will appear instantly on the voter registration list.

Let’s do this town proud and demonstrate a great voter turnout!
