We need you in Halifax. The Unicorn has been gone now for months so you would be the number 1 store in Hfx if you were here. I just don’t understand how you would leave Antigonish to go to Pictou when it would have made so much more sense to be in Halifax. Especially now with everything that is happening here. My dear lady who owns this beautiful store I truly hope you will respond to me. Good luck Muriel Ryan

Hello Muriel,
It was so great to get your message – and to receive your positive support in general terms. I get what you’re saying about Halifax and I agree with you but, but, but….. The move to Pictou was very sudden because of crazy circumstances but it also made sense for me because I live in Antigonish and it’s not that far. Uprooting the store was difficult enough but it just wasn’t possible to uproot my whole life all at once. I am considering moving the rest of me next year but after building my home and living here on the waterfront for the past 20 years it’s going to be a process. I have to find a place I love as much and at this stage I don’t think I could afford Halifax real estate prices and overheads. Bricks and mortar fashion retailing is pretty tough in this new age. My store in Pictou is now a scaled down version with less hours and a fraction of the overhead costs I had been paying. I’m planning to ride this out for a while to see how it goes. So far so good.
If you ever make it out this way I would love to have a good old gab with you over tea or something.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt comments. I’m so grateful you would take the time to write and to let me read your enthusiasm for Aphrodite between the lines. I hope to see you in the new year. Have a Merry Christmas, and keep blessing the world with your presence!
